How to install your Cambodia eSIM in 3 steps

So far 5G reaches Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and a handful of provincial capitals including Kandal, Svay Rieng and Takeo, but it's still concentrated in those urban pockets rather than blanketing the country, so most of a trip will still run on 4G.

Coast, countryside and mountains

Sihanoukville's town centre gets good 4G from all three carriers, but the offshore islands nearby have only very limited signal - worth planning around if you've booked a beach bungalow rather than a mainland hotel. Inland toward Battambang and other rural provinces, Metfone is the network that keeps working where Smart Axiata and Cellcard start to fade, with the widest rural reach of Cambodia's three carriers; even so, expect real gaps in the Cardamom Mountains and the denser jungle terrain, whichever carrier your eSIM rides on.

Getting around

The main road corridors - Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, and on to Sihanoukville - stay within range of at least one network for most of the drive. The Tonle Sap area is the exception: around floating villages like Kampong Phluk, mobile signal is patchy at best, and guesthouses and boat operators there tend to lean on their own Wi-Fi rather than mobile data.
